The Royal Danish Ballet stages its premiere run of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland with 20 performances from 3-22 December 2016. Christopher Wheeldon's adaptation of the classic Lewis Carroll story features an acclaimed original score by Joby and lavish designs by Bob Crowley. Commissioned jointly by The Royal Ballet and National Ballet of Canada and premiered in 2011, the work has since been taken on by the Royal Swedish Ballet and is also set to be staged by the Bayerisches Staatsballett and the Australian Ballet in 2017.
The company on whom Christopher Wheeldon created this acclaimed ballet adaptation of Shakespeare's play revives the work in fifteen performances from 12 April. Joby's score includes an onstage band composed of instruments from a variety of global folk traditions, creating a sound that is both new and timeless.
