Wayne McGregor's Genus, for which Joby collaborated with LA music producer Deru on an electro-acoustic score that features the Duke Quartet and Tenebrae, will be performed by Toronto's National Ballet of Canada, the first company to stage the work since its originating company, the Paris Opera Ballet.
Sing, the new animated feature from the studio responsible for Despicable Me and The Secret Life of Pets and with an original score by Joby, opens across 3500 screens in the USA. The film is written and directed by Garth Jennings, for whom Joby scored The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005) and Son of Rambow (2007).
The National Ballet of Canada give five performances of Christopher Wheeldon's acclaimed ballet The Winter's Tale, with a vibrant score by Joby, at the David H. Koch Theater as part of New York City's 2016 Lincoln Center Festival. For more information and tickets, visit the Festival website.
Professional choral ensemble Luminous Voices will perform Joby's a cappella Path of Miracles at 3pm at Calgary's Cathedral Church of the Holy Redeemer. The hour-long piece describes the journey of pilgrims on their way to the holy city of Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain.
Joffrey Ballet will present five performances of Christopher Wheeldon's Fool's Paradise, choreographed to a score by Joby, from 16 to 20 September in a triple bill entitled Millennials. The Dallas Opera premieres Joby's new one-act opera about the disastrous events on Mount Everest in 1996 which lead to the deaths of several climbers.
The performance is part of a double bill also featuring La Wally. There will be four performances until 7 February.
